There are many logics; the purpose of this book is to give an overview of some of the most basic ones. So, the object of study in logic is human reasoning, with the goal of distinguishing the good from the bad.

Logic has diverse applications, especially in mathematics and computer sci-ence. The modern development of mathematical logic was motivated by the de-sire to establish a logical foundation for mathematics.1 From that point of view, mathematical logic is a branch of mathematics that attempts to understand and justify all mathematical reasoning.
