Understanding the philosophical underpinnings of ontology and epistemology is crucial for conducting rigorous and meaningful research. By explicitly considering our assumptions about the nature of reality and how we can know it, we can make informed choices about our research methods and interpret our findings with greater confidence.

Various researchers employing either qualitative or quantitative researches should better understand the different competing research paradigms and its philosophical underpinnings in relation to ontology, epistemology, methodology and even the methods in collecting and analyzing data to produce an excellent research.

But many of the contributors to this volume aim primarily to use fittingness as a tool to inquire into other matters. This constitutes a third recurring theme: this collection advertises several places in which fittingness might be used to settle perennial philosophical questions. I’ll offer three examples.
