This post is the last in a series looking at the reading section of Paper 2 for AQA’s GCSE English Language paper, specification 8700. You can find guidance on revising for question 1, question 2 and question 3, or for Paper 1 here. Question 4 is the question with the highest marks on Paper 2.
Question 4 is the highest mark question out of Section A. Therefore, it is recommended you spend a bit longer on it than previous questions. It does require a detailed analysis, however you will have a good understanding of both source texts by this point, so it is recommended that you allow around 20 minutes within the exam to answer Question 4.
Question 4 on paper 2 is another comparison question – only this time you need to do more than compare content – you have to think about. a) the writer’s viewpoint and. b) how they convey this viewpoint.
