In previous versions of Word, it was possible to set a custom keyboard shortcut to bring up the "Paste Special" context menu. This is ubiquitous because you don't always want to use a specific paste special command (i.e. sometimes it's paste as text, or sometimes I want to paste as Picture (Enhanced Metafile).

I am not sure what is causing this, but every time I restart my system, the paste options in MS office apps such as outlook and word get disabled. I also see that the value of PasteOptions in \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\office\16.0\common\General is set to 0 even after I manually set it to 1.

It has been reported in the past that Word may ignore that option unless you keep "Show Paste Options button" enabled. Note that the Paste Options button may appear intrusive, but if you ignore it and continue typing it will hide by itself. Alternatively, you can press the ESC key to hide it immediately.

So I copied text and was about to paste in Word when only the TEXT option was available, the other two options that are generally available have disappeared. Tried going to paste options and change the options but are still not showing.

As Viorel suggested, please check cut & paste function in Word and other programs. If you also have this issue in other software, it is recommended to clean the Clipboard: Press Windows + V to open the clipboard history to turn off history.
