An Outline can be created in Microsoft, Notepad, Notepad++, or any other word processing program. You need to create the file readable for PowerPoint – that is the only requirement.
Open PowerPoint and click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now. Make sure you're using the latest version of Office 365. 3. Use a different import method If you have problems importing your outline directly from Word, you can try copying and pasting the contents of your Word outline into PowerPoint: In Word, select your outline content.

Import a Word outline into PowerPoint Open PowerPoint and select New Slide > Slides from Outline. In the Insert Outline dialog box, find and select your Word outline and select Insert. Note: If your Word document contains no Heading 1 or Heading 2 styles, PowerPoint will create a slide for each paragraph in your content.
There's no reason to expect PowerPoint to parse this file. Instead, use the feature as it was designed to operate. Download the files you want to work with to your local hard disk. Open the files in Word or PowerPoint, not Internet Explorer. Then use Send to Microsoft PowerPoint or Insert slides from outline. It works every time without fail here.
