Wear the item to fix, set the alphas in the Lara hud to your liking, say in local chat: /95 part-of-itemname menu, in the menu choose Get Alpha, and then Finalize.

Making an alpha is really easy. But, when it comes to hands and feet, there's some caveats. Firstly, alphas don't work on nails (on Maitreya at least), and secondly, hands/arms are mirrored, i.e. you can only alpha neither or both at the same time (same with tattoos and skins and such).

I especially like the support for Auto-Hide for clothing that is "not quite right" and the capability to "auto-select" the angle of the ankles for different shoes. This reduces the need for the Maitreya HUD, which is often flagged as "using lots of texture memory" when I visit various regions during explorations.
