The ISSN List of Title Word Abbreviations is a list that contains all the standardized abbreviations used for words in scientific citations. It is based on ISO 4 (ISO 4 is an international standard which defines a uniform system for the abbreviation of serial titles, i.e., titles of publications such as scientific journals).
However, the Web of Science Core Collection abbreviation may be modified to fit a standard 20-character unique cited title to aid in citation data collection and production of Journal Citation Reports data. Please see the Journal Abbreviation List located from within Web of Science Core Collection:
