Got a 2x4 Kallax that i planed to laydown on the side and put a table top on in, but the 2x4 isn't as sturdy on the side and a bit longer than I planned saw the 2x2 + 3x3 => 2x3 3x2 IKEA hack but I don't have a 3x3 in my region of the world so I started thinking... what about taking a 2x2 and 3x4 to make a 3x2 and 2x4? did anyone else try this ...
I dont think you can get 2 full 3x2's. you'd need a duplicate of one of the pieces in the 2x2 kit (the 2 unit wide center divider). You might be able to dig one out of the as-is section. Reply reply More replies
I really need a 3x2 white Kallax but it doesn’t exist. If I put a 2x2 and a 1x2 together, it’ll be about 4cm too long for the space. So that’s out of the question. I’m thinking of cutting down a 2x4 but am worried about chipping the white coating and ending up with an awful finish.

Good job! I've been trying to work out how to DIY customize my closet. It's a nice big area, but like you I just did perfunctory rods etc. until I knew what the room wanted.
