Appliers are scripts that apply textures onto your mesh body, it can be tattoos, bodypaint, lingerie, makeup etc... most bodies use a universal system to apply them : Omega. Mesh body sizes are sizes made specifically for one type of mesh body.
Whilst I have been in SL for many, many years, for the last few years I have just popped in and out and not taken part in daily SL life. Still Maitreya by a country mile, with the next nearest (Legacy) with about 1/7th of Maitreya's market share. I think Reborn will overtake Kupra soon to become #3, and maybe overtake Legacy to take second place in a year or so, but it will be a few years before anything beats Maitreya's share.
