Equivalent combinations of education and experience are accepted for all grade levels and positions where both education and experience are acceptable. Note: Some jobs also have other requirements such as typing speed, health, or age. These requirements are rare and only apply to certain jobs that require physical fitness.

Crediting education in one-grade interval occupations -- For one-grade interval occupations, when education is used to meet specialized experience requirements at grade GS-5, the level of the course work must have been equivalent to at least the junior- and senior-year levels of a baccalaureate program.
