Connections Health Solutions, the leading innovator of immediate access emergency behavioral health care, announced the opening of Connections Kirkland, King County’s first-of-its-kind, multi-service behavioral health crisis response center.

The Connections center’s model mirrors the plan for King County’s five crisis care centers, funded by a $1.25 billion property tax levy voters approved in 2023.

Serving the North King County community, Connections Kirkland collaborates with local governments and organizations to enhance access to behavioral health crisis care. The center has the capacity to serve up to 14,000 individuals annually, aiming to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and alleviate the burden on the judicial system.

Today, Connections Health Solutions and the City of Kirkland opened the region's first walk-in 24/7 behavioral health crisis center along with partner cities of Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, and Shoreline. The new crisis center will provide walk-in urgent care and continued stabilization for people experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis.

Connections Kirkland will begin operating as the first crisis care center in spring 2025. By the end of 2025, King County aims to select behavioral health organizations to run the second and third crisis care centers. The final two operators are expected to be chosen by 2026, with the goal of all five crisis care centers open in 2030.
