Carefully wrap painter’s tape around the edges of the books, leaving only the page edges exposed. The tape will act as a barrier, protecting the book covers and pages from getting painted. Make sure the tape is firmly attached to prevent any paint seepage. Step 4: Choose Your Paint Colors Select the colors you want to use for your book edges.

You want this talcum powder layer to barely be there, so I usually use a second dry paintbrush to sweep over the page edges and get rid of excess powder.
