A strong cold front is approaching Houston, expected to bring scattered light showers in the afternoon and potentially severe storms during the evening commute.

Monday is poised to be a severe weather day in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa as a potent storm system collides with potentially ideal atmospheric conditions, setting the stage for storms that could produce strong tornadoes, damaging winds and very large hail.

More rain and a low chance of strong to severe storms are forecast for the Dallas area Thursday, beginning in the morning and continuing throughout the day.

With the rain that fell on Tuesday, St. Louis has seen 9.85" of rain so far during the month of April. That eclipsed the fourth wettest April on record moving past 1944's 9.54" of rain. The third wettest was 1994 when 10.32" of rain fell. Second place is 10.37" in 2017 and the wettest April on record was in 1893 when 10.84" of rain fell.

After one round of thunderstorms moved across Minnesota on Monday morning, a second, stronger round of storms brought hail, high winds, heavy rain, funnel clouds and reports of at least one tornado during the afternoon and evening.
