The head of Scotland's second largest teaching union says schools are overwhelmed by an "explosion" in pupils with additional support needs.

Carrbridge Primary School and Nursery Class has been favourably reviewed by an Education Scotland inspection - but there is room for improvement, staff have been told. The inspection team visited in February and talked to parents/carers and children, working closely with the headteacher and staff.

Attainment in a Renfrewshire village primary school has been branded “good” following a recent inspection. Education Scotland found that levels of achievement across the curriculum at Kilbarchan Primary were good – although a report said some children would benefit from greater levels of challenge.
