The Celebrity Apex has officially completed its five year mark for Celebrity Cruises after joining the fleet on March 27, 2020. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the vessel was handed over by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in a unique virtual delivery ceremony.

The departure will precede the Xcel's five-night maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale Nov. 18, a press official said. The ship's construction is ahead of schedule, according to a report from Cruise Industry News, which cited a statement Celebrity sent to booked guests.

Celebrity Xcel, Celebrity Cruises’ newest vessel, will introduce new dining and entertainment offerings aimed at couples.

Celebrity Cruises is much more established as a cruise line than Virgin Voyages, as it was founded in 1989. It currently operates 13 large cruise ships, with the new Celebrity Xcel set to debut in late 2025. The brand also has a Galapagos expedition ship: Celebrity Flora.
