SAN ANTONIO — As the temperatures heat up, so too does the race for San Antonio mayor—one that features 27 candidates vying to succeed Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who will leave office in June after serving the City Charter-mandated maximum of eight years.

APRIL 28, 2025 — Tomorrow is the last day to vote early in the upcoming Bexar County May 3 joint general, special and bond election.

Voters will be casting their ballot for races at Judson ISD and the cities of Universal City, Live Oak and Selma.

Applications must be received by the Bexar County Elections Office by the end of the workday. Individuals eligible to vote by mail include people 65 or older, individuals who are sick or disabled, and people traveling outside the county on Election Day and during early voting.

Ahead of early voting, the Bexar County Democratic Party unleashed a video attacking mayoral candidate Rolando Pablos’ connection to Gov. Greg Abbott.

Though some may be skeptical of the bond, there hasn't been organized opposition and it hasn't been a talking point on the campaign trail.

The poll also found voter sentiment fell for Project Marvel, the city’s plan to launch a sports and entertainment district downtown centered on a new Spurs arena.

Early voting runs from April 22-29 for the May 3 election, and voters in North San Antonio have several races to weigh in on.
